- Second tadka/baghar
- 1 tbsp Desi Ghee/Oil

- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Hing

- Dal should already be washed properly and soaked for 30 minutes.
- Transfer soaked chana dal, 21/2 cup water, turmeric and salt to pressure cooker and close the lid. Pressure cook the dal until 3 whistles are blown.
- To prepare haveji we need following ingredients
- Take a bowl and add curd to it. Now add all the spices to the curd and keep aside. Your haveji mix is ready.
- First tadka/baghar preparartions
- Now heat desi ghee/oil in kadahi. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, ginger paste and garlic paste and saute for a minute. Now add dried whole red chillies.
- Add chopped onions and saute until become translucent.
- Now add haveji mixture to tadka. Saute until ghee oozes out from haveji.
- Now open pressure cooker and check the consistency of boiled chana dal, it should be cooked properly but not mushy.
- Now add chana dal to haveji. Mix everything to combine dal and haveji. Cook this for 5 minutes on low flame. Add little water if required.
- Add garam masala to haveji after 5 minutes.
- Second tadka/baghar preparartion
- Heat ghee in a pan for second tadka/baghar. Add cumin seeds and hing.
- Turn off flame and add kashmiri red chili powder.
- Top the haveji with second tadka/baghar. Garnish with coriander leaves and Chana dal haveji is ready to serve.
